Starting today, all Android TV devices in the U.S. will have this new tab, allowing users to explore, buy, or rent movies and shows. The rest of the world can expect to receive the Shop tab in the coming weeks.The Shop tab offers a convenient way for users to browse and compare movies available for rent or purchase across multiple streaming services. Gone are the days of opening each app separately. This new tab also helps users discover new titles. Additionally, the "Library" section displays thumbnails of movies and TV shows purchased from Google Play Movies & TV, YouTube, Google TV, or Android TV. Once users have made their purchases on Android TV, they can easily download them on their phone or tablet via Google Play Movies & TV. This allows for offline viewing or the option to watch on a different device. How the Shop Tab Differs from the Discover Tab on Android TV Although the Shop tab and the Discover tab on Android TV may appear similar, they have distinct differences. While the Discover tab suggests content from various streaming platforms based on users' preferences, regardless of price, the Shop tab exclusively showcases content available for purchase or rental. Exciting Updates on the Horizon Google has announced that Android 14 will soon be available for Android TV devices. The beta version of the software reveals upcoming features, including an accessibility menu at the top level. This menu will offer options such as text scaling, bold text, and color description, making the Android TV experience even more user-friendly.
